Casting

For casting, I used my friends in the school theater program. We composed long lists of people  for the fight scene, a group of girls for the bleacher scene, and even changed the character of Colton twice.  The guys we recruited for the fight scene were all occupied after school that day. We filmed the bleacher scene during school so the girls we had for that scene didn't know we were filming.  On the way to the field I grabbed my friend Ainsley to play the part of Maggie. We had Marin Mclean lined up to play Mia from the beginning. Andrew Sapienza was a perfect fit for her brother, Noah. They are already friends so they have the fun loving chemistry that most siblings have. On the day of filming for the fight scene, Shawn was really busy and had to leave right away, so we had to film all we needed quickly so he could leave. After filming with Shawn, I was skeptical that we actually had enough film to establish the emotion. Luckily Keaton was standing...

Script

This is the script we will try to go by when we are filming. Hopefully we will stick to the script as much as possible. In the script it states when and what the characters are doing and saying. IN CAR Noah and Mia sit in car, MIA is nervous, her brother NOAH tries comforting her.                NOAH      Ok we are here.                MIA      I can’t… I can’t do it.                NOAH      Nah sis, you got this!                MIA      No, Noah, I don’t. Because what if…                     NOAH  ...

Titanic Research

Image
The film "Titanic" is based off of the real shipwreck of the boat Titanic in the early 1900's. The event of the ship sinking is real, but the characters and story of the film are fictional. The film tells a story of a couple that falls in love on the boat Titanic. The boat hits an iceberg and the boat ends up sinking. Many things in the film "Titanic" can be compared to the characters and events in my film. Colten acts as the "iceberg" of our film, he tears up his relationship with Mia, much like the iceberg tore up thr boat Titanic. Mia could also be compared to the iceberg of the film because of the way that the note she gave Colten changed the story. The budget for the film was $200 million and the box office brought in $2.1 billion dollars. This was a very sucessful film.

Me Before You Research

Image
In the movie "Me Before You" a heartbreaking story is shown between a couple. They were involved in a car accident. The girl is severely injured. The girl's spirit follows her boyfriend and watches what he is experiencing and her recovery. This film, along with mine is a drama/ romance film. In both films, the girl is confused on what she should do. This relates to my film because in both films there is a tragic event that happens. In "Me Before You", it is the car accident. In my film it was the event that Mia was cheated on. Both tragic events are difficult to overcome for both characters. The budget of the film was $20 million and the box office brought in $207.9 million.

In my shot list, I organized it with a rough sketch of what goes on in the picture, followed with a description of what is happening, along with dialogue coming from the characters.

10 Things I Hate About You Research

Image
The film "10 Things I Hate About You" relates to the film that I am planning in many ways. A similarity the two films have is the fluctuation of love between the two couples. In "10 Things I Hate About You" A boy named Joey pays a boy named Patrick to date a girl named Kat. Kat does not suspect anything and thinks Patrick genuinely likes her. Joey eventually reveals that the whole relationship was just set up and that he doesnt actually like her. Kat is heartbroken. Time passes and Patrick actually starts falling for Kat. Kat forgives Patrick and they begin a genuine relationship. This relates to the film i'm making because with Mia and Colten in my film, there is a factor that ruins the relationship. The thing that ruins the relationship of the characters in my film, is when Colten cheats on Mia. this shows that the feelings were not true between the two. But much like "10 Things I Hate About You", the two reconcile and confess their love. The bu...

Dear John Research

Image
I researched the film "Dear John". In "Dear John" there is a couple, John and Savannah. In the opening scene, John and Savannah meet. John is in the military and Savannah keeps in touch with him using letters. All throughout his deployment, they exchange letters talking about their lives, and asking about each other. Until one day, Savannah sends a letter saying that she is engaged. John becomes upset and burns all of the letters Savannah gave him. John visits Savannah one day and Savannah's husband tells John that Savannah still loves John. This relates to the film I am making. Much like Savannah, the boy in my film finds a new partner and it upsets his girlfriend. In the end of my film, the girl will give the boy a note saying that she still loves him. This relates to "Dear John" because both Savannah and the girl in my film both have feelings for a boy that never really went away.

P.S. I Love You Research

Image
In the first two minutes of this film, it showed an argument between a married couple. The husband does not know what he did wrong and keeps asking her why she is mad,  and the wife wont tell him and insists that he knows what he did wrong. A series of short takes show the couple arguing at each other. There is definitely some tension between the two. Similarly to the film "P.S. I Love You" the boy and girl in the film im planning used to date and they are currently in an argument. Much like the husband in "P.S. I Love You" the girl in my film is trying to confront the person that she is in argument with. Both characters from each film are trying to resolve hurt feelings. The budget of the film "P.S. I Love You" was $30 million. The box office brought in $156,835,339.

Filming Location/ When and Where to Film

Image
Much like the other film we planned, the filming location will be at our school. We will shoot most of the scenes in the football field and in the locker room. My group has already asked our principal for permission to use the locker room for filming. The fight will take place in the locker room. Our principal gave us permission to use it, but we are waiting for an email back with what dates are available for filming. Our other main filming location will be in and around the bleachers used for school football games. We have not yet scouted our planned filming locations yet, but my partner and I will do it soon. We will start our filming on Friday.
