Lisa AICE Media Studies Film

This is my quarter 3 submission. We had to re shoot a scene that my partner recorded vertically, so this is the revised quarter 3 submission. For the revision, we met during our lunch period. We tried to find an area to film that it would seem like somewhere would go if they were upset. We decided to film on the stairs of one of our school's buildings. The stairs are in a quiet, secluded place that it seems someone like Mia would go to recollect her thoughts. I also changed some minor things, such as the audio volume.

This is my rough draft Quarter 3 Submission. I could not attend one of the scene shootings, so my partner was in charge of filming. Unfortunately, she forgot to record most of the footage horizontally. Most of the videos in this rough draft submission are vertically filmed. We are trying to set up a time and date to get the actors together to re shoot. We will have to find a day that everyone can remember to bring their costumes, and a day that they are not busy.

I integrated technologies such as hardware as software and online in my film project.  I changed the video recording setting on my phone to 4K at 30 fps. Before filming, I had it set as 1080p at 30 fps. The quality I changed it to makes the footage filmed to become a better quality, that would not have happened if I would not have changed the phone camera settings. I edited my film on my Macbook laptop. I used iMovie software on my laptop. iMovie made it possible for me to put all of the clips together. I used iTunes to buy and download the song that I use as incidental music in the background of my film. The song is an instrumental version of Glee's "Get it Right" Without these technologies, the creation of my film would not have been possible.

How did your production skills develop throughout this project?  My production skills improved  in the process of creating my film.  I realize the small details that go into making a film happen.  Throughout the course of making my film, I had many instances where I could learn from my mistakes.  For example, for one of the scene shootings I could not attend, my partner was recording the footage on her phone. My partner accidentally recorded some of our footage vertically. We then had to reshoot the footage, and now we learned a valuable lesson not to record vertically.  My partner and I both shot our film using our iPhones from different angles. I then compiled all of the clips from each of our phones and then put them on my computer to edit. I was mostly in charge of the editing of the project. I picked up on many new editing techniques and creating my film gave me the opportunity to learn them. I would most likely have not learned the editing techniq...

How does your product engage with audiences and how would it be distributed as a real media text? I would first distribute my film to the "Sarasota Film Festival", a film festival that happens in my city. My partner and I could distribute the film to a variety of places, which would increase the popularity of the film. From there, If by chance a large distributor saw and liked my film, we could distribute it to movie theaters. I would want to leave the film in theaters for a while, for about 3 weeks, so I have the opportunity to make the most money. Once my film is taken out of theaters, I  would put the film on demand. I would keep the film on demand for the opportunity to rent or buy the film. I would make my film accessible on websites such as Netflix or Amazon video.

The film I created challenges the conventions of the Drama movie genre. It challenges the conventions by using adolescents to convey a plot. It is more common for adults to appear in the drama genre because of the intensity of what the plot may be. there is an element of the romance genre to enhance the complexity of the drama. The film I created represents a social issue that affects many people in society. Many individuals in society deal with a lack of respect among of youth in the community. The effects of this could cause depression, anxiety and desolation within the social order of adolescents. The outburst formed by Noah in my film was an outcome of the distress Mia conveys.

The film La La Land is a romance film made in 2016. La La Land has the same genre and the same target audience of my film. The film La La Land was released in theaters, on DVD, on Amazon Video and on the iTunes store.  La La Land was released in theaters on December 16, 2016.  The theaters brought in $446.1 million. The film was then distributed to digital platforms such as Amazon Video and iTunes. The digital release date was April 11, 2017. La La Land was released on DVD on April 25, 2017.

The movie "The Fault in Our Stars" is a romance film and has the same target audience of my film. The movie is about a young love story and the struggles they face. The Fault in Our Stars was first shown at the Seattle International Film Festival on May 16, 2014. The film was then released in theaters on June 6th, 2014. The theater audience brought in $307 million worldwide. The film was released on DVD on September 16, 2016. The DVD sales brought in a total of $42 million.
